John and Robert, born abt. 1343 was listed as the fourth generation in the pedigree of
Savage of Clifton. He died in 1386.
He married about 1376, as her second
husband, Margaret Danyers, who died 6
Hen. VI (1427-1428), daughter and heir of Sir Thomas Daniers, Lord of
Bradley and Clifton. She had married first, in 1369, John Ratcliffe, who
died leaving no issue. She married third, in Nov. 1388, Piers Legh of
Maxfield, younger son of Robert Legh of Adlington. She inherited all her
mother's lands. Having survived all her husbands, as a widow she gave the
moiety of Gropenhall to her son Piers in 1403. To her son John Savage she
gave the liberty to bear her arms, deeded to her by her father.
03. Sir John Savage II

son of John and Margaret, of Clifton, Cheshire
was born in 1370. He married first, about July 1401,
Maude Swynnerton, widow of Humphrey de Peshale and William de
Ipstones. She brought him the manor of Barrow. This marriage caused a feud
between the Savages and the Peshalls, involving suits over her estates as
well as violence. He married second, by 1428, Elena, widow of James de
Haryngton. He fought at Agincourt in 1415, and was knighted in 1416.
He died on Aug 1, 1450.

04. Sir John Savage III

son of John and Maude, Esquire, of Clifton,
Cheshire, born abt. 1388, died June 29, 1463, aged 53.
His wife was not named in the Savage
pedigree by Ormerod, but was identified by him in 3:89 as
Eleanor Brereton (or Elizabeth). 05. John Savage

K.G., of Clifton, Cheshire, born about 1423 (aged 40 in 1463), died 22. Nov.
1495, aged "73",
and was buried at Macclesfield. He married
Catherine Stanley, sister of
Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby, and heiress of the manor of Camden. He
was knighted in 1477 and fought at Bosworth in 1485. 06a.
Dulcia Savage, daughter of John
and Catherine was born in 1448. She married Henry Bold in 1465 and
died in 1480.
