My Bull Ancestors

01. Richard Bull ^[1] was born abt. 1470 in Hertfordshire, England.  He married Hellen Skipwith,  daughter of William Skipwith.  Richard died on April 7, 1544 in Bayford, Hertfordshire, England. 

"...nothing certain has been found concerning the ancestry of the elder Richard Bull; no arms were recorded with the Bull pedigree either in 1572 or in 1634, which indicates that they were a new family with Richard Bull the elder evidently the first to be styled gentleman."

"...This lawsuit of Johane Bulle, widow, late wife of Richard Bulle, (rin 10523) indicates that after the death of Helen Skipwith, Richard Bull, Sr., married Joan Dychande around 1522 and that he probably died by 1529. He left tenaments to his (2) wife Joan Dychande of whom is deceased in this court case; Her family (heirs) are trying to get her inheritance, apparently unlawfully!"

02. Charles Bull ^[1] was born bef. 1490 in Hertfordshire, England.  In about 1510 he married Joan Knighton, daughter of Thomas Knighton and Anne Underhill.  Charles died on June 27, 1532.  The will of Charles dated June 27, 1532 names his wife as executrix and lists sons Richard, Christopher, Edward and George.  The will also mentions children who died before him but they are not named.

03. Richard Bull ^[1] was born abt. 1511 in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. He married Alice Hunt.   Richard died on September 14, 1585 in Hertfordshire, England.  Richard Bull signed the 1572 Herfordshire Visitation pedigree, in which he identified his parents and grandparents as well as his wife's name.  After he died, Alice married Anthony Garland on March 17, 1586.

04. Elizabeth Bull, ^{[1] [2]} daughter of Richard and Alice was bapt. August 4, 1563 at St. Andrews, Hertfordshire, England.  On January 25, 1585 she married John Lawrence, son of William Lawrence and Katherine Beaumont.  She died on Aug 25, 1609.  I descend from their son Thomas Lawrence who married Joan Antrobus.
