Francis Andrus

was born abt. 1623 in Essex, England. At some
point in the 1630's he immigrated to New England.
"Francis
moved to Fairfield and was an early member. Francis is listed on the "Founders
Monument" [among the first settlers of that town.] He purchased before
1640 the north part of Richard Butler's lot on the corner of the present Elm
& Trinity Streets. He married Anna Smith
[abt. 1641]. He died in Fairfield
,
will dated June 6, 1662; proved March 5, 1663." Source: "Families

Francis may have been the brother of
William of Hartford and John of Farmington.

Abraham Andrus,

son of Francis and Anna was
born in 1655 in Fairfield, CT. He was a man of note in Waterbury, CT
and served as one of the town's first townsmen or selectmen. In 1672
he married Rebecca. She may be Rebecca Carrington,
possible daughter of John Carrington
and Joan, a couple who were charged with witchcraft in 1651 and hanged. Abraham died in 1729 in Waterbury, New Haven, CT.
