Beauchamp

The name Beauchamp, Latinised to Bello Campo ("beautiful field", "fair field"), is borne by one of the most ancient Anglo-Norman families.

01. William De Beauchamp, ^[1] son of Walcheline and Joan was born abt 1215 in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, England.  He married Isabel De Mauduit, daughter of William Maudit and Alice De Newburg.  On the death of his father in 1236 he became hereditary Sheriff of Worcestershire which title he held until his own death.  William died in 1268. 

02a. William De Beauchamp, ^[1] 9th Earl of Warwick and son of William and Isabel was born in 1237 in England.  He was an English nobleman and soldier, described as a "vigorous and innovative military commander. He was active in the field against the Welsh for many years, and at the end of his life campaigned against the Scots. He married Maud FitzJohn, daughter of John FitzGeoffrey and Isabell Bigod.  William died about June 5, 1298 in Elmley, Worcestershire, England.

02b. Sarah De Beauchamp, ^[1] daughter of William and Isabel was born abt. 1255.  She married Richard Talbot.  Sarah died abt. 1318.  See Talbot surname for continuation of this line.

03a. Guy De Beauchamp, ^[1] 10th Earl of Warwick and son of William and Maud was born in 1272 at Elmley Castle, Worchestershire, England.  He married Alice De Toeni.  Guy died on August 12, 1315. 

03b. Isabella De Beauchamp, ^[1] daughter of William and Maud  of William and Maud was born in abt. 1263. 
She married (1) Sir Patrick De Chaworth in abt. 1281.  Isabella died abt. May 30, 1306.  I descend from their daughter Maud De Chaworth who married Henry Plantagenet, 3rd Earl of Lancaster.  She married (2) Hugh Le Despencer in 1286.  I descend from their son Hugh Le Despencer (c1261-1326) who married Eleanor DeClare.  

04. Thomas De Beauchamp, ^[1] 11th Earl of Warwick and son of Guy and Alice was born in 1313 in abt. 1359 in Warwick Castle, Warwickshire, England. He married Katherine De Mortimer, daughter of Roger De Mortimer and Joan De Geneville.  He was an English nobleman and military commander during the Hundred Years' War.  In 1318 he became one of the founders and the third Knight of the Order of the Garter.  Thomas died on November 13, 1369 in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

05. William De Beauchamp, ^[1] 1st Baron Bergavenny and son of Thomas and Katherine was born in 1358 at Warwick Castle, Warwickshire, England.  He married Joan FitzAlan, daughter of Richard FitzAlan and Elizabeth De Bohun.  William died on May 8, 1411 in Abergavenny, England. 

06. Joan De Beauchamp, ^[1] Countess of Ormond and daughter of William and Joan was born in 1396 in Abergavenny, England.  She married James Butler, son of James Butler and Anne Wells.  Joan died on August 3, 1430 in Surrey, England.  I descend from their daughter Elizabeth Butler who married John Talbot.
