Richard "The Elder" Masterson, son of Edmund and Joane was born on Sep 11, 1594 in Sandwich, Kent, England. Richard was excommunicated several times for criticizing the Church of England. He was in Leiden by Oct 7, 1611 and was a wool comber by occupation. He married Mary Goodale on Nov 23, 1619 in Leydon, Netherlands. He wrote to William Bradford with 4 others on Nov 30, 1625 expressing hopes of emigrating to New England. They migrated to America in mid-July 1629 on the 2nd Mayflower that sailed on April 24th, 1629 from Leiden. Richard died on Jul 1, 1633 in Plymouth, MA of an infectious fever that claimed over 20 lives. The 2 children of Richard and Mary are: |
