My Fitton ancestors

01. Richard De Phyton [1] was given Fallibrome in Cheshire by Hugh Keveliok, who was the second Earl of Chester, in the time of King Henry II, who reigned from 1154 to 1189.

02. Sir Richard De Phyton, [1] son of Richard was born abt. 1175.  He married Ellen He was Justice of Cheshire from 1233 to 1236 and was "Seneschal of the Earl of Richmond for 18 years in the time of Randle Earl of Chester." Richard died abt. 1246 in Cheshire, England.

03. Sir Hugh Fhyton, [1] son of Richard was born abt. 1204 in Bollin, Cheshire, England.  His wife's name is not known.  He was granted the manor of Rushton and Eaton by John Scot, Earl of Chester, against the wishes of Vivian Davenport, but the grant was voided by a felony.  He died before 1271 in Bollin, England.

04. Sir Edmund Fitton, [1] son of Hugh was born abt. 1234 in Bollin, Cheshire, England.  He married Joyce.  He was called one of the parceners of Over Alderley.  Edmund died abt. 1298 in England.

05. Thomas Fitton, [1] son of Edmund and Joyce was born abt. 1282 in Gawsworth, Cheshire, England.  He married Isabel De Orreby, daughter of Thomas Orreby and Cecily Massey.  He died after 1335 in Gawsworth.

06. Thomas Fitton, [1] son of Thomas and Isabel was born abt. 1322 in Gawsworth, Cheshire, England.  He married Margaret Legh, daughter of Peter Legh and Ellen Bechton. Thomas died abt. March 1397 in Gawsworth.

07. Sir Laurence Fitton, [1] son of Thomas and Margaret was born abt. 1375 in Gawsworth, Cheshire, England.  He married Agnes Hesketh, daughter of William Hesketh.  He died on February 14, 1456 in Gawsworth.

08. Joan Fitton, [1] daughter of Laurence and Agnes was born in 1399 in England.  She married Robert Grosvenor, son of Thomas Grosvenor and Joan Venables.  She died abt. 1481.  I descend from their daughter Elizabeth Grosvenor who married Petter Dutton.
