Daniel
Devore
was born in abt. 1660 in Aisne, Picardie, France. The Devore family
were French Huguenots
and were fleeing the
Spanish
Netherlands and the
Franco-Spanish War. Something happened to separate brothers Nicholas and
Daniel from the rest of the family and forced them to flee from Manheim,
Palatinate of the Rhine, to England.

Both brothers immigrated to New York in 1674
[1]. On April 22, 1686 he
married 1st wife Jannetje "Hannah" Frans (1660-1692). They had 2 children,
Metje (Martha) and Carel. [1]
On February 28, 1692 Daniel married his 2nd wife Engeltje "Angelica" Cornelus (1669-1772), daughter of Cornelis Janszen and Mettje Bastiaens. [1] [2] They had 10 children between 1696 and 1713. Daniel died before Oct 11, 1729 in Hunterdon Co., NJ where his will was probated. [1] Nicholas may be the father of Daniel (see WikiTree page here for more details.) William
Devore,
son of Daniel and Engeltje (Angelica) was born on Nov 6, 1711 in Hackensack,
Bergen Co., NJ. He married Catherine Schoonmaker in
1740 in Monmouth, NJ, daughter of Hendrick Schoonmaker and Heyltje Gerritse
Decker. William died before 1786 in Bedfort County, PA.

Mary Devore, daughter of William Devore and Catherine was born Abt. 1762 in New Jersey. She married James Young who was one of two brothers who came to the US from Scotland in the late 1700's. Mary died on after 1840 in prob. Morgan Co., OH. I have 3 potential DNA matches from this line. See the Young surname page for continuation of this line.
