My Vermandois ancestors

Vermandois was a French county that appeared in the Merovingian period. Its name derives from that of an ancient tribe, the Viromandui. In the 10th century, it was organised around two castellan domains: St Quentin (Aisne) and Péronne (Somme). In today's times, the Vermandois county would fall in the Picardy region of northern France. (Source: Wikipedia)

01. Pepin, Count of Vermandois (abt. 815 - ) ^[1] grandson of Charlemagne and son of King Bernard of Italy and Cunigunda of Laon. He supported Emperor Lothar after the death of Emperor Louis the Pious, despite having sworn allegiance to Charles the Bald. His wife's name is unknown.

02. Herbert I, Count of Vermandois (abt. 848 - 907) ^[1]

son of Pepin was a Carolingian aristocrat who played a significant role in Francia. He married Bertha De Morvois.

03a. Herbert II, Count of Vermandois (-943), ^[1]

son of Herbert and Bertha was the first to exercise power over the territory that became the province of Champagne. He married Adele, Princess of France. Of their 8 children, I have known descents from 4.
