Cyndi's Genealogy Links - Very complete reference site on many topics.
Ellis Island Passenger Search  - Has 51+ million records online.  You will need to register with them to see detailed search results
Ellis Island Information page with links - Provides a nice overview of Ellis Island along with usful external links for exploring in detail
FamilySearch - Free search with census, birth/death records including SSDI, military records, user submitted trees and more.
Find A Grave - Over 120 million grave records
Genforum - Many surname forums but read only since 2014.
Google Books - There are good number of free genealogy books here which can often be downloaded as PDF files
Google Groups - Archive of Usenet newsgroups (like soc.genealogy.medieval) which can provide useful information
RootsWeb Mailing list archive search - Many archived mailing lists available for searching.
RootsWeb World Connect - Free search (over 700,000 names) - many user submitted trees.  Often unsourced but with contact information.
The Surname Web - Growing list of surnames with address of resarcher
US Genweb - State links - Find genealogical resources by State and county.
