Warburton

The following history on the Warburton line includes segments from the book:

01. Hugh De Dutton, who had Hugh of Dutton, Geoffrey of Chedill and Adam.

02. Adam De Dutton, son of Hugh, Lord of Warburton in the time of Henry II, and Richard I, and King John (1154-1216), married Agnes FitzAlured, daughter and co-heir of Roger FitzAlured.

03. Sir Geoffrey De Dutton, son of Adam and Agnes served in the Crusades to the Holy Land, and died about 1248.  He married the daughter and heir of Warburton.

04. Sir Geoffrey De Dutton, son of Geoffrey succeeded to the estates about 1248, and was living 1275. He married 2nd Isabella. His first wife, whose name is unknown, was the mother of Peter.

05. Sir Peter Dutton, son of Geoffrey assumed the name of Warburton.  He was living in 1307.

06. Sir Geoffrey De Warburton, son of Sir Peter Dutton was Sheriff of Lancastershire about 1326.  He married Margaret who was living in 1314.

07. Sir Geoffrey De Warburton, son of Geoffrey and Margaret succeeded before 1338, and was living in 1359.

08. Sir Geoffrey De Warburton, son of Geoffrey was born about 1298 in Warburton, Cheshire, England.  He married Alice.  Geoffrey died in 1383.

09. John Warburton, son of Geoffrey and Alice was born about 1333 in Warburton, Cheshire, England.  He married Agnes De Wevere, daughter of Richard De Wevere.  He died before 1391.

10. Peter Warburton, son of John and Agnes was born in 1364 in Warburton, Cheshire, England.  He was under age in 1391, at the inquisition in 8th of Henry V. His contract with Douce, daughter of Sir John Nassy of Tatton, being dissolved in 1402, he married Alice Braylsford, daughter of Sir Henry Braylsford.  He died about 1421.

11. Sir Geoffrey Warburton, son of Peter and Alice was born about 1397 in Arley.  He married Ellen Bruyn, sister of John Bruyn of Tarvin.  His will was dated 1448.

12. Peter Warburton (Piers) of Warburton and Arley, Esquire, called Wise Piers, Seneschal of Halton was born about 1428 in Arley.   After a contract was dissolved with Alice, daughter of John Manwaring, of Over-Poever, he married Ellen Savage, daughter of Sir John Savage.

13. Sir John Warburton, son of Peter and Ellen was born abt 1459 in Arley, Cheshire, England.  He administered to the effects of father Feb. 14, 1495, but in 1487 Piers Warburton, his father, had contracted for his marriage with Johanna (called Joan and Jane. In the 32nd year of Elizabeth, 1590, the Court of the King's Bench were agreed that these names were all one name). Jane Stanley was the daughter of Sir William Stanley, of Holt, and he was the son of Thomas Stanley and Joanna Goushill, descended from de Bohuns and Edward I.

14. Blanche Warburton, youngest daughter of John and Jane was born abt. 1500 in Arley, Cheshire, England.  She married William Davenport, son of William Davenport and Maude Legh abt. 1520 in Arley.  She died after 1541.  I descend from their daughter Jane Davenport who married Robert Hyde.
