Schwiening

I have made contact with Nanette Tacke and Wolfgang Schwiening, both descendants of Christian Heinrich Schwiening (#4) whose families remained in Germany.  Nanette was able to provide for me the first 3 generations of the Schwiening family that are known.  Wolfgang is credited for the research on the early lines who reports that unfortunately about 1740 the Church of Ronnenberg was destroyed by a storm and the valuable papers with ancestral information on them were destroyed under the stones.

Henje Schwiening, the earliest known ancestor of this family married Ragine Hachmann.  He died in Ronnenberg, Germany on September 30, 1740.  The children of Henje and Ragine are:

Hans Dietrich Schwiening, son of Henje and Ragine was born on September 19, 1714.  He married Margarete Knost in 1735 in Ronnenberg, Germany.  Hans died on May 8, 1789.  The children of Hans and Margarete are:

Johann Heinrich Schwiening, son of Hans was born on November 5, 1754.  He married Blondine Kefel in 1789 in Ronnenberg, Germany.  Blondine was from Empelde, Germany.  The children of Johann and Blondine are:

Christian Heinrich Schwiening, son of Johann was born on March 27, 1796 in Ronnenberg, Germany.  He married Sophie Dorothee Marie Blondine Schild on Nov 18, 1827 in Ronnenberg.  She was born on Aug 2, 1797 in Hanover and died on Aug 29, 1874 in Ronnenberg.  Christian was "keeper of the Church grounds or cemetery".   He died on January 27, 1845 in Ronnenberg.  The children of Christian and Sophie are:

Friedrich Carl Otto Schwiening, son of Christian who was born on July 20, 1831 in Ronnenberg, Germany and at least one other son who later came to America. Friedrich married Sophia Schmull on March 11, 1860 in Holtensen, Germany.    Sophia, daughter of Heinrich Schmulle and Dorothea Sophie Caroline Fabrien was born on April 10, 1843 in Bredenbak, Germany and died on October 11, 1933 in Goldwaite, Texas.   Friedrich and his family came to America to New York City on September 02, 1876.  The  ship they were on was named Moser or Moses.  On its return trip to Germany, it was blown up and everyone was lost.   The family later moved to Texas.  Friedrich took his citizenship papers in 1881 but papers were burned when the capital at Austin, Texas was destroyed by fire.   He later took second papers.  Friedrich died on January 4, 1908 in Goldwaite, Texas.   They had 11 children, many of whose descendants reside in Texas to this day. The 11 children of Friedrich and Sophia are :

 Ernest August Schwiening, son of Frederick and Sophia was born on October 10, 1873 in Celle, Germany.  He came with his parents to the United States from Germany in 1876, eventually settling in Texas.  At some point, Ernest left the family in Texas and went to Portales, Territory of New Mexico where he met and married Grace Myrtle Hawk on August 5, 1903.  Around 1912, a few years after their daughter Irene was born, the family moved to Salem, Oregon. Ernest died on September 15, 1944 in Port Orchard, WA. The three children of Ernest and Grace are:

Irene Sophia Schwiening, daughter of Ernest and Grace was born on July 15, 1908 in Portales, Territory of New Mexico.  A few years after she was born, their family moved to Salem, Oregon.  She was a nurse. She married William Edward Marshall on October 14, 1930 in Corvallis, OR.  They had 2 children, William and Janet.  They later moved to Port Orchard, WA where they lived for a number of years.  The couple retired in Salem and for several years traveled to Mesa, Arizona where they spent the Winter months.  Irene died on June 8, 1992 in Clarkston, WA.  I descend from Irene and William's son William Marshall.

Frederick Schwiening settled in Texas with his family.  Ernest Schwiening later moved to New Mexico where he wed his wife Grace.   They later moved to Oregon.
