My Clark ancestors

01. John Clark was born about 1509 in Westhorpe, Suffolk, England and died on May 03, 1559 in Finningham, Suffolk, England.   He married Margaret in 1533 in Westhorpe.

02. John Clark, son of John and Margaret was born on February 11, 1541 in Westhorpe.  He married Catherine Cook, daughter of John Cooke and Alice Carter on October 12, 1567 in Westhorpe.  John died on April 4, 1598 in Finningham.

03. Thomas Clark, son of John and Catherine was born on November 01, 1570 in Westhorpe.  He married Rose Keridge (Kerrich), daughter of William Kerrich and Margery on May 13, 1600 in Saxted, Suffolk, England.  Thomas died on July 29, 1627 in Westhorpe.

04. Thomas Clarke, son of Thomas and Rose was born on March 31, 1605 in Suffolk, England.  He was the first Clarke in New England and was a resident of Ipswich, MA in 1634.  Thomas and his sons operated a tannery for 50 years there.   His wife's name may have been Jane.

05. John Clark, son of Thomas was born on November 13, 1639 in Ipswich, Essex, MA.  He married Mary Burnham, daughter of Thomas Burnham and Marie Lawrence on October 09, 1672 in Ipswich.  A carpenter, John purchased land at Preston, Conn. on April 16, 1694.  He married (2) a widow, Mary (Leffingwell).

06. Thomas Clark, son of John and Mary was born on January 15, 1674 in Ipswich.  He married Elizabeth Leonard, daughter of Samuel Leonard and Abigail Wood and of Mayflower ancestry on July 10, 1703.  Thomas died in Norwich, CT.

07. Thomas Clark, son of Thomas and Elizabeth was born on May 16, 1708 in Preston, CT.  He married Sarah Woodward, daughter of Daniel Woodward and Thankful Gates on December 17, 1735 in Norwich, New London, CT.

08. Sarah Clark, daughter of Thomas and Sarah was born on March 28, 1759 in Preston, CT.  She married Samuel Adams, son of Richard Adams and Susanna Preston on March 28, 1759 in Preston, CT.  They had 9 children.  Sarah died on March 17, 1808 in Otis, MA.  I descend from their daughter Mehitable Adams who married Miles Jones.
